iFolder3

Step 1: Installing iFolder3

  1. Click on your Internet Explorer Icon to open your Internet Browser.
  2. Click inside the address line and type http://ifolder3.oru.edu and press the ENTER key.
  3. When the page loads click on the iFolder3.0 link on the left.
  4. When the page loads, click on the Download iFolder3.0 Windows Client link on the right.
  5. When the "File Download-Security Warning" Window appears, click on RUN.
  6. In the "Internet Explorer-Security Warning" Window, Click on RUN.
  7. In the "Choose Setup Language" window the English language is the default, Click on OK
    *If you get a message that says:  "Do you want to run this software:  dotnetfs.exe?", continue with these instructions.
    *If you do not, please skip to step #14.
  8. Choose RUN.  The installation can take several minutes-depending on the speed of your computer, it can take 5-20 minutes. Let the process finish completely.
  9. In the "Microsoft.NET Framework 1.1 Setup" License Agreement Window, click in the dot for I AGREE and then click on INSTALL.  This step will also take several minutes; let the process finish completely.
  10. In the "Microsoft.NET Framework 1.1 Setup" Installation is complete Window, Click on OK and let the process finish completely.
  11. When the "Install Shield" window comes up, prompting you to restart, please do so by clicking on RESTART.
    AFTER THE REBOOT:
  12. The "Internet Security Warning" will appear.  Click on RUN.
  13. In the "Choose Setup Language" Window the English language is the default, Click on OK.
  14. In iFolder3 Client Install Shield Wizard window, click on NEXT.
  15. The iFolder3 Client Install Shield Wizard Customer Information Window will appear.  Type in the User Name box YOUR name (First, Last).
  16. Under the "Install this application for:" make sure the option:  "Anyone who uses this computer (all users)" is selected by clicking on the circle next to this option.
  17. Click NEXT.
  18. In the iFolder3 Client Install Shield Wizard Destination Folder Window, accept the default location by clicking on NEXT.
  19. In the iFolder3 Client Install Shield Ready to Install the program Window, click on INSTALL.
  20. In the iFolder3 Client Install Shield Completed Window, click on FINISH.
  21. You will be prompted to reboot your computer.  Click on YES.
    AFTER THE REBOOT:
  22. In the "setup iFolder Account" window, click YES.
  23. Type in the Server information:  lxsrv56.oru.edu
  24. For Username type:  (Your  Novell Login)
  25. Select "Remember Password" box.
  26. For the Password type: (Your Novell Password)
  27. Click LOG IN
  28. On the error message window click YES
  29. A new icon appears in your task tray (the bottom right corner of your desktop).  At this time information is being updated.
  30. Click OK and do not do anything until the iFolder Services icon in the task tray is done.
    TO MAKE YOUR IFOLDERS:
  31. Click the START button.
  32. Choose MY Computer.
  33. Double click on Local Disk (C:).
  34. If files are hidden click "Show the contents of this drive" option (on the left).
  35. Double click on DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS folder.
  36. Double click on the folder with your user name on it.
  37. Click on the "Make a new folder" option on the left.
  38. Name the new folder IF3 and press ENTER.  This folder will hold all of your new iFolders.
  39. Double click on the IF3 folder to open it so that you can create all of your iFolders within the main folder (IF3).
  40. Click on the "Make a New Folder" option (on the left).
  41. Name the new folder according to the way you want to use your folders:
    Some suggestions are:  Documents, Items for home, Share with Assistant, Share with Student Worker, etc.
  42. Make at least 4 folders to use for Step 2 or as many folders as you may need.  Folders can be added at anytime.
  43. Close the window.

You are now ready to move on to Step 2:  Setting Up iFolders
