Step 2: Setting Up iFolder

Instructions for turning the folders we created in Step 1 into iFolders

  1. Double click on the iFolder Services icon in the task tray (bottom right corner of your desktop).  iFolders Manager window will appear.
  2. Click NEW
  3. Click BROWSE to find your iFolders.
  4. Select MY COMPUTER.
  5. Select LOCAL DISK (C:).
  6. Select DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS.
  7. Select the folder with your name.
  8. Select the IF3 folder.
  9. Select one of the folders that we created in Step 1
  10. Select OK
  11. Select OK again.
  12. An "iFolder Created" message window will appear-read and then click CLOSE.  Your folder is now an iFolder.  Wait for synchronizing to end (check the Status column).  When it says OK go to next step.
  13. Continue these steps to turn all your folders into iFolders.

Alternative Method

  1. Double click on the iFolder icon in the task tray.
  2. Double click on MY COMPUTER icon on the desktop or in the Start Menu.
  3. Double click on LOCAL DISK (C:).
  4. Double click on DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS.
  5. Double click on the folder with your name.
  6. Double click on the IF3 folder.
  7. Right click on a folder that has not been changed to an iFolder (a folder without the iFolder icon).
  8. Select    CONVERT TO AN iFOLDER.
  9. Click on OK.
  10. Repeat steps 7 thru 9  as necessary.
  11. Close the MY COMPUTER window.
  12. You will see in your iFolder Manager window that the folders are now iFolders and are listed in the Manager.

Using Your iFolders by moving files into iFolders

  1. Open the iFolder Manager window and double click on one of your iFolders
  2. Click on the FOLDERS button at the top of the window to see all your folders.
  3. Click MY DOCUMENTS - or - wherever you're files are stored.
  4. Click and drag files or folders into the appropriate iFolder.
    To move multiple folders or documents at one time:
  5. Click once on the first folder or file.  Hold down the SHIFT key while clicking on the last folder or file.  This will select the entire group.  Click and drag the group selected into the appropriate iFolder.
  6. If you want to move folders or files that are not adjoining, select a folder or file, then hold down the CTRL key and click on each folder or file that you want to move.  Click and drag the selected group into the appropriate iFolder.
  7. Click on the iFolder that you have moved folders and/or files into to be sure items are correctly placed.
  8. Close the window.
  9. In the iFolder Manager you will see all of your iFolders.  The items that you have moved will be synchronized when the next scheduled synchronization occurs (every few minutes) or you can synchronize them manually by highlighting an iFolder and clicking on the SYNCHRONIZE button.
  10. Close the Window.

You are now ready to move on to Step 3:  Sharing iFolders
